The other day I was talking with a coaching client who said their writing required too much "prep time"--
Aka, the right playlist, a clean house, candle lit, writing mantras said, sound bowl tuned to the perfect frequency, etc.

They wanted advice on how to jump in already and make progress.
Here's what I told them:
- Stay in conversation with your book, always. For example, if you won’t have time to write, have your outline handy and a notebook.
Think about the work. Jot down whatever comes to mind in the notebook.
(A pre-cursor to this step: have an outline.)
2. You don’t have to ABW (always be writing), but always be THINKING about writing. And then make space for non-thinking.
3. For “down to business” writing time, set a timer. Focus on a word count goal.
4. Snatch pockets of free time to write. Only have time to write 100 words? Great. That’s 100 words!
The idea is to keep that ball rolling, even if you’re nudging it forward an inch at a time.
Remember: done is better than perfect.
Perfect is the enemy of done.
The only way you can figure out your writing progress is to get in there and start writing. Let it be messy.
